By Rabbi Aryeh Spero
All throughout the late 1960s, 70s and 80s, agitators on the Left despised General Motors and the other big automakers. They mocked them as part of the military-industrial complex. They called them greedy, just as they have done with Big Oil, Big Tobacco, Big Pharma.
I remember how embarrassed people were when friends on the Left saw them purchase a Cadillac. A Lexus or Volvo were fine, but the American-made car was looked at as a symbol of avarice. Now, all of a sudden, the Democrats have found a fondness for Big Auto. Don't believe it. It's all about protecting the union jobs which through union dues spends up to $50 million in behalf of Democrats running for office.
